You don't need dairy or eggs to make amazing cakes, pies, candy, cookies and other sweets. Did you know that you can add moisture, bind and leaven without using eggs! There are several good commercial egg replacements on the market, or replace eggs in cakes, rolls and other sweets using basic kitchen ingredients:
Make sure to mix the “egg” replacement ingredients together, and let the mixture rest or sit as directed BEFORE adding it to your recipe.
Arrowroot 2 T arrowroot powder + 1 T water mixed=1 egg
Baking Powder 2 tsp. baking powder + 1 T oil + 2 T water mixed=1 egg
Cornstarch 2 T cornstarch + 1 T water mixed=1 egg
Chia Seeds 1 T chia seeds + 3 T water mixed (allow mixture to sit 5 to 10 minutes)=1 egg
Flax Seeds 1 T flax seeds + 3 T water mixed (allow mixture to sit 5 to 1o minutes)=1 egg
Applesauce ¼ cup applesauce + 1 tsp. baking powder mixed=1 egg
Nut Butter 3 T nut butter (almond, peanut, hazelnut)=1 egg
Oil 3 T vegetable oil + 1 T water mixed=1 egg
Prunes ¼ cup pureed prunes + ½ tsp. baking powder mixed=1 egg
Silken Tofu ¼ cup mashed silken tofu=1 egg
